Material Handler (On-site)

Lief also houses a state-of-the-art, full-service Current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) manufacturing facility, which offers custom solutions for a multitude of supplement categories. Our turnkey solutions allow us to engage in seamless partnerships that help brands with scalability and sustainable growth. Lief Labs is located in the Santa Clarita Valley (Valencia, CA.) All roles are on-site Monday – Friday.

Summary

The Material Handler plays a critical role in the efficient and effective movement of materials throughout the production facility. Working closely with the production team, the Material Handler is responsible for ensuring that materials are properly received, stored, and distributed to support production schedules and maintain inventory accuracy.

Responsibilities

Material Receipt and Inspection:

  • Receive incoming materials and verify accuracy against purchase orders and packing slips.
  • Inspect materials for damage, defects, or discrepancies and report any issues to the appropriate personnel.
  • Ensure that materials are properly labeled and stored in designated locations.

Material Handling and Distribution:

  • Prepare materials for production by staging, picking, and delivering materials to downstream departments in a timely manner.
  • Weigh materials while following Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and safety standards.
  • Safely operate material handling equipment, such as forklifts and pallet jacks, to transport materials within the facility.
  • Follow proper handling procedures for hazardous materials and ensure compliance with safety regulations.

Material Shipping and Reconciliation:

  • Prepare materials for outbound shipments and verifying against bill of ladings.
  • Load materials as needed.

Inventory Management:

  • Maintain accurate inventory records using inventory management software/systems.
  • Perform physical inventory audits to ensure inventory accuracy.
  • Monitor inventory levels and report discrepancies to management.

Quality and Compliance:

  • Adhere to company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements related to material handling, storage, and documentation.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean and organized work environment to ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and safety standards.

  • Familiarity with inventory management systems and basic computer skills.

  • Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team or alone.

  • 5+ years of experience in material handling, warehouse operations, or similar role, preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Familiarity with inventory management systems such as SAPbyDesign and advanced computer skills especially in Microsoft Office.
  • Valid forklift operator certification and experience operating material handling equipment.

Work Environment

The office is clean, orderly, properly lighted, and ventilated. Noise levels are considered low to moderate. Field conditions vary.

Exposed to various raw materials, including allergens (i.e. milk, eggs, fish, shellfish, tree nut, peanuts, wheat, soy).

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may regularly require talking, listening and grasping items. This position is active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. May be required to work in restricted spaces and/or under difficult lighting and access conditions.

The employee may frequently lift and/or move up 50 pounds and be able to use appropriate support equipment to lift and move greater amounts. Must be able to stand for approximately 8 hours.

Materials in excess of 50 lbs. require special handling.

Must be able to work independently, in a team environment, and drive projects to solution. Operate fork truck and other material handling equipment. Ability to climb on and off forklift repeatedly.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Employee is required to properly use such safety equipment as is appropriate to the work to prevent injury to self or others.

Additional Information
The Salary Range for this position at Lief Labs is $18.00 (USD). Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to market demands, experience, training, skills, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, wellness benefits, education reimbursement program, and PTO. This position is bonus eligible.
