Packaging Line Lead

Location: Valencia, CA

Our turnkey solutions allow us to engage in seamless partnerships that help brands with scalability and sustainable growth. Lief Labs is located in the Santa Clarita Valley (Valencia, CA.) All roles are on-site Monday – Friday.

Summary

The Packaging Line Lead is responsible for overseeing and coordinating packaging activities within our production facility. You will be responsible for leading a team, ensuring compliance with safety, quality standards, SOPs, GMPs and maintaining efficient operations on the packaging line. This position requires strong leadership skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to drive a positive safety culture and maintaining a high level of product quality. The line lead will serve as a mentor and train and develop associates. The Packaging Line Lead monitors production and directs the performance and output of team members; oversees the operating of all equipment to meet daily KPI’s.

Responsibilities

  • Leadership:

    • Lead packaging line operators to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
    • Provide guidance, support, and training to team members.
    • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Quality Assurance:

    • Monitor and enforce adherence to quality assurance procedures and standards.
    • Conduct regular inspections to identify and address any packaging issues.
    • Collaborate with the quality assurance team to implement corrective actions.
  • Production Planning:

    • Work closely with production planning teams to ensure timely completion of packaging schedules.
    • Coordinate with other departments to maintain a seamless flow of materials and products.
    • Achieve OEE (Overall Equipment Efficiency) KPI daily.
    • Lead the packaging line team to ensure they meet changeover time KPI daily.
  • Equipment Maintenance:

    • Support the maintenance of packaging machinery and equipment by ensuring PMs are completed in full and on time.
    • Coordinate with the maintenance team to address any technical issues promptly and follow escalation process when necessary.
  • Documentation:

    • Accountable for maintaining accurate records of production activities, including batch records and production reports.
    • Ensure the team complies with regulatory requirements and company policies.
  • Safety and Compliance:

    • Promote and enforce safety protocols and procedures to create a secure working environment.
    • Ensure team is wearing proper PPE.
    • Ensure team inspects all packaging equipment for safety prior to operation at the start of shift.
  • Continuous Improvement:

    • Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement best practices.
  • Additional duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

High school diploma/GED or equivalency of related work experience.

Experience:

  • 2-3 years’ experience in a production environment, preferable 1 year experience in a lead role.
  • Understanding of cGMPs (Good Manufacturing Practice) and related SOPs.
  • Experience and proficiency in operating packaging line machines and equipment.
  • Ability to read and understand English examples, procedures, good manufacturing practices “GMP”, packaging standards, batch records and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Knowledge of ERP systems “Redzone preferred”.
  • Bilingual in Spanish a plus

  • Ability to manipulate packaging controls, small production containers on a production line and hand tools to assemble and disassemble parts of equipment.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may regularly require talking, hear and grasp items. This position is active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day.

Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, strong fumes, loud noises, and occasionally extreme temperatures.

The employee must frequently grasp, lift and/or move items 20 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Additional Information
The Salary Range for this position at Lief Labs is $20.00 - $22.00 hour (USD). Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to market demands, experience, training, skills, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, wellness benefits, education reimbursement program, and PTO. This position is bonus eligible.
