Warehouse (Material Handler) Lead (On-site)

Summary

As a Material Handler Lead, you will play a vital role in leading and coordinating material handling activities within our production and warehouse facilities. You will oversee the efficient movement of materials, provide guidance to the Material Handler team, and ensure accurate inventory management. Responsible for the shift activities relative to safety, and quality.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and oversee the day-to-day material handling operations, including receiving, storing, and distributing materials.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the Material Handler team, ensuring tasks are assigned and completed in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Train new Material Handlers on standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety protocols
  • Perform regular inspections of materials, equipment, and storage areas to ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.
  • Collaborate with production supervisors and planners to prioritize material needs and ensure timely availability for production activities.
  • Oversee the loading and unloading of materials using forklifts, pallet jacks, or other equipment as required.
  • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with the purchasing department to maintain appropriate stock levels.
  • Conduct regular cycle counts and physical inventory audits to ensure accurate inventory records.
  • Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies, implementing corrective actions as necessary.
  • Maintain accurate records of material transactions, including receipts, transfers, and disposals.
  • Communicate and coordinate with cross-functional teams to address any material-related issues or delays.
  • Continuously identify process improvements and implement efficiency-enhancing initiatives within the material handling function.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies to maintain a safe and clean work environment.
  • Ensures team members follow up-to-date Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Supports, communicates, and enforces all Company and Team Manual policies
  • Coordinates and works directly with quality, production, warehouse, planning, and finance to ensure mission success.
  • Manages workflow to ensure that production orders are completed in a timely manner.
  • Maintains inventory by identifying, labeling, and placing materials and supplies in stock, recording location of inventory.
  • Maintains in-process inventory at work centers by delivering and opening materials and supplies.
  • Interacts professionally with other employees, customers, and suppliers.
  • May drive on occasion company Power Industrial Trucks and Transportation Truck.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Education/Knowledge

High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications or training in material handling or warehouse operations is a plus.

Experience:

  • Proven experience as a Material Handler Lead or in a similar leadership role within a manufacturing or warehouse environment, preferably in the pharmaceutical or dietary supplement industry.
  • Strong knowledge of material handling principles, inventory management practices, and safety regulations.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a team.
  • Proficiency in operating forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
  • Proficient in using inventory management systems and basic computer applications.
  • Requires warehouse experience in a make to order manufacturing environment.
  • Requires strong organizational, leadership, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Basic understanding of Excel/SAP systems
  • Knowledge of ERP systems
  • Speak, read and write Workplace English
  • Bilingual communication skills a plus

Work Environment

The office is clean, orderly, properly lighted and ventilated. Noise levels are considered low to moderate. Field conditions vary.

Exposed to various raw materials, including allergens (i.e. milk, eggs, fish, shellfish, tree nut, peanuts, wheat, soy).

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may regularly require talking, hear and grasp items. This position is active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day.

Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, strong fumes, loud noises, and occasionally extreme temperatures

The employee must frequently grasp, lift and/or move items 50 pounds and occasionally grasp, lift and/or move items 33lbs.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Additional Information
The Hourly Range for this position at Lief Labs is $21.00 - $25.00/ hour (USD). Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to market demands, experience, training, skills, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, wellness benefits, education reimbursement program, and PTO.
